A Few Out-of-the-Box Ideas

Spring is here!

As the weather warms up and everyone is ready to get outside, let's take a look at a few different outdoor activities we can do in the area! You’ll see a few of these require a short drive but it's worth it for the extra sunshine, right?!

A few years back, we purchased season passes to the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo and let me tell you, we got our money's worth! This thoughtfully designed zoo doubles as a playground- for kids and adults! With lots of interactive activities, it would be worth a day trip to the zoo to feed the giraffes, play with the goats and traverse one of the many climbing elements!

As Cheyenne Mountain Zoo requires advance tickets, be sure to purchase them online before you load up the car!

Another place that would be fun to visit before it’s blazing hot is the Royal Gorge Bridge. While there are a lot of additional attractions you can pay to experience, there is plenty to explore with general admission. AND season passes are 50% off through the end of April! Pack a picnic lunch and drive south for a day trip to this historic site.

Of course with warmer days upon us, things are wrapping up at our local ski resorts. Now's your chance to enjoy your last days on the mountain! You’ll find a few special events around the season close so be sure to check each website for details!

Ski Cooper- Closes April 16

Monarch Mountain- Closes April 16

Copper Mountain- Closes May 7

This Thursday, April 13th, is your last chance to ski for $30 at Ski Cooper but you have to get your ticket online TODAY!

Another opportunity that caught my attention this month is the Achieve Social. Achieve, Inc. is a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide a community of excellence for teens and young adults with learning disabilities. They accomplish this in a myriad of ways! While you have seen their fingerprints around BV for years- they run The Little Engine Eatery on Main St- they are now partnering with BV Rec to provide social outings that support our neuro-diverse youth and young adults! On April 28th, they are hosting a swim at Mt Princeton. You can learn more about this particular outing or Achieve by clicking below!

Like me, I’m sure you enjoy that our towns here in Chaffee County are largely clean and welcoming places! And while there is great staff in place to help maintain the beauty, it also takes a village! On April 30th, join Buena Vista’s neighborhood clean-up day: Keeping Bewnie Buena! Register by April 12th to claim a free t-shirt! To read more about the day and register to participate, click below!

We live in the best place, don't we?! Comment below and let me know which of these activities you'll be participating in this month and come follow along on Instagram to see which ones we're choosing!
